Why choose a dental crown?

Crowns are a very versatile restorative treatment, most often used to repair damage that has affected the structure and strength of a tooth. As the crown replaces the whole outer surface, it fully rebuilds the tooth and ensures it looks completely natural in your smile.

Often, we recommend a crown is placed following root canal treatment to ensure a long-lasting and natural-looking outcome. Crowns can also be used to support dental bridges or to provide a high-quality and aesthetic finish to dental implant treatment.

What does the treatment involve?

We begin your treatment by assessing your tooth, checking the internal structure is healthy and free from infection. We gently remove a layer of tooth structure to make space for your crown, leaving a strong and stable core for support.

We take digital scans and images of your teeth, which are used to design and create your crown to fit perfectly. We also make a note of the natural colour of your teeth to make sure your restored tooth blends seamlessly into your smile. We protect your prepared tooth with a temporary crown between appointments.

When your crown is ready, we remove the temporary one and fix the new, permanent one in place using strong dental adhesive.
